On March 20, 2026, nearly one hundred second-year students from the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Food Science and Technology Department at the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), took part in a study visit to Confirel’s Prey Thnong pepper plantation in Kampot province.
The group was welcomed by Mr. Nol Ratana, Confirel’s Agro-Food Project Manager, representing Dr. Hay Ly Eang, founder and CEO of the PPM–Confirel Group. The visit offered students an opportunity to explore the company’s expertise and pioneering role in promoting Kampot pepper both nationally and internationally.
The session began with a presentation video introducing Confirel’s profile and activities, followed by an overview of the circular economy vision developed by Dr. Hay Ly Eang. This model, implemented successfully for many years, combines economic performance with social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
In the field, students toured the pepper plantation under the guidance of the site manager, who explained the stages of cultivation, maintenance, harvesting, and processing.
He also discussed the main challenges faced by pepper growers—particularly plant diseases and pest infestations—encouraging students and researchers to engage in innovative studies that could provide practical solutions for Cambodia’s agricultural sector.
